Thank you boat and dock parade participants! We had a total of 12 boats and countless docks participate! It was CRAZY that the wind kicked up right when we started our route. And WOW! Everyone on their docks to wave us on! You all ROCKED! Happy birthday USA! Below are some pics we got of the boats. Boaters and Dock Dwellers, please get back to us on your vote for best boat or dock by clicking the email link below.
Did anyone notice our second sign was installed on the north side of Cape Monday? Thanks to John and Deb Kane for offering their land to place the sign.

PSA....just a friendly reminder that the posted speed limit on most of Cape Monday is 25 mph. Now that activity in our "hood" is at its peak, please observe the speed limit, and ask your visitors and contractors to do the same. Thank you!
Brown Tail Moth Update
Click here for the latest update from the state of Maine. Seems caterpillar activity is nearing the end and the moths will emerge during July. Keeping lights off during evening can help minimize their migration as they are strong flyers and attracted to light. I think activity here on Cape Monday was much less than the previous two years. Very few caterpillars were observed this year though other parts of Harrison still seem to be infested (Crystal Lake Park).
Once leaves drop completely (usually January) it is quite easy to see the Brown Tail Moth nests in the trees so it is possible to forecast how bad a problem you might have on your property for the upcoming summer. There are DIY options for treating trees if it looks like it might be a bad year. Feel free to contact the email below if you feel you might have a problem and would like another opinion.
Loon Count for Long Lake
Every year during mid-July, the Audubon Society of Maine organizes a statewide loon count. A few of us from CMNA are active volunteers for the count. Unofficial count numbers for Long Lake for 2026 were 32 adults and 0 chicks. The zone which included Cape Monday Pt. to Salmon Pt had 10 loons observed alone. 2025 results had 26 adults with two chicks....so our loons are doing well!
Cribbage League Starting Soon
Our 2026 fall season will be staring during first week of September. We are always looking for new players and the schedule/league play is fairly flexible to accommodate those who may not be here full time but do visit on a regular basis. No experience necessary....we have taught many to play already. This is an inexpensive night out where you can stay in touch/get to know your neighbors a bit better during the cold Fall and Winter months. Check out the thumb nail on the left for more info or click the email button below if you want to join.
